Dottie defies the average. Her work ethic is constantly acknowledged by her teachers and coaches, leading to stellar outcomes academically, athletically and artistically. Having lived in the North, the South, the City, the Country, the Beach and Mountains - her life experience is broad for a young woman just getting started. She’s endured natural disasters, gained perspective on privilege and poverty as well as travelled across the world. Resilience is her theme. Despite the hard knocks that come with being an athlete, the hard work of living on a farm and trudging through the aftermath of hurricanes, Dottie still finds the beauty in life and expresses herself creatively and artistically.
Dottie strives to be available for wherever her coaches need her to play on defense. So far this has included infield corners, SS, OF and pitching. This year her high school team needed a pitcher and Dottie answered the call. Having started learning to pitch less than a year ago, she has progressed in accuracy and speed rapidly with an impressive climb in her K avg/inning. She works with a private coach weekly. She is the starting pitcher at Lake Lure Classical Academy and looks forward to continuing to develop in this position with her travel teams.
She was named ‘2025 Defensive Player of the Year’ for her Varsity Team. First base is her happy place. Whether it’s a sweet stretch, swift scoop or put-out on a pop, Dottie can be counted on to make the play! At 5’9”, her wingspan is broad. She loves fielding and has strong fundamentals. She has had countless starts at 1B including school and travel ball. She continues to work hard with fielding drills whether it’s at a rebounder net or finding a way to practice her stretches at the beach while on holiday by drawing a circle in the sand and reaching from there while playing catch.
Dottie‘s physicality (5’9”/135lb) paired with her incredible work ethic has her hitting bombs! She works with a private batting coach and is ranked on the leaderboard for several hitting stats including a top rank in the State of NC for OBP In 2024! She’s worked with a speed and agility coach to tighten up her running form and Dottie led her team in steals last season.
